2. StyleWriter Software – User

You may install each license on one computer.

As licensed software you may not:

• Sell, rent, or give it to a third party
• Transfer it without our permission
• Merge or incorporate StyleWriter in any other software or training material
• Use StyleWriter as a commercial teaching aid without our permission.
• Reverse-engineer any features
• Distribute it under any other name.
• Act as agents for StyleWriter without our written permission.

You may request from us a transfer of the license to another computer because of staff turnover or similar reasons.

Users must be employed by the organization or member joining the Clear Writing Club.

We license the software for your use on a single computer for each license. We grant you the right to install the software on one machine for each license. Server licenses are under a separate agreement.

We keep all rights to the software and own the copyright.

We supply the software as a perpetual license without any annual fees.

We offer free maintenance and support by email for the period you are a member of the Clear Writing Club.

We will provide free updates but may charge for major upgrades of the software.

We will not supply any customer information to any third party.

3. Clear Writing Club Membership

You may withdraw from the Club which takes effect at the end of the current year’s subscription. There is no refund of the subscription paid for the current year’s membership.

You may use and display the Club’s Clear Writing Style Seal and the Supporter of the Clear Writing Club on your website, electronic documents and printed documents on the conditions listed under the Seal of Approval.

We will bill you yearly for your membership fee in the month you first joined the club.

We will not raise the annual fee. You will continue to pay the same annual fee in perpetuity.

We reserve the right to refuse membership to any individual or organization. We may also withdraw membership if you break any of our guidelines or use our Seal of Approval on inappropriate material or offensive material.

4. The Seal of Approval

You may self-certify by using the StyleWriter software to review and assess your electronic or printed documents.

To display the Seal, you must:
• Have a current Club membership
• Use StyleWriter to edit the document.
• Score 70 or above on the Clear Writing Index as measured by StyleWriter.
• Send to us a link to any website electronic document or email a copy of any printed document bearing the Seal.

You may not display the Seal, if:
• We request you withdraw it because of inappropriate or offensive content.
• Your membership lapses or ends.

Within 30 days of your membership ending, you must remove the Seal from any documents or websites. If you continue to use the Seal after the 30-day period, you will be liable to pay the annual membership fee and our administrative costs.

When you send us a document (includes website links), we will review the content. We will offer any advice, without charge, we think appropriate to improve the document or website.

You may ask us to help you redraft your documents if you cannot reach 70 on the Clear Writing Index. We charge for this service.

Unless you tell us differently, we may publish the name of your organization as a current member, with a link to your website. We may also use the documents gaining the Seal as examples of clear writing.

5. Other Conditions

We will email you any changes to this Agreement.
